My Limerick 

My scooter has bar

My bars are made from Mars

My clamp is used for a ramp

My ramp is at camp 

I go faster then some cars


We had to make a limarick. My topic for my limerick is about scootering because I ride my scooter everyday. So I thought to use scootering for my topic. The way the Limerick works is the first 2 sentences rime the the second 2 sentences rhymes and the last sentence rhymes with the first two sentences.

Aim: To see if coke explodes when a Mentos lolly is dropped into it using different temperatures and different kinds of coke.

Hypothesis:

Equipment:

Ruler

Beaker

Thermometer

Coke Mentos

Measuring flask

Method:

Stage 1: ( All groups)

1. Add 150ml of coke to a measuring flask
2. Place the flask in the sink.
3. Drop in 1 mentos a watch the effect.

Stage 2: 

Group 1
Test 1

1. Heat up 50ml in a beaker of coke ( Using a thermometer heat it to 75 degrees)
2. Place the beaker ion the sink and add a mentos.

Test 2

1. Add 50 ml of cold diet coke to a beaker
2. Add 5 mentos.
3. Record the hieght it reachs

Group 2
Test 1

1. Heat up 50ml in a beaker of coke ( Using a thermometer heat it to 45 degrees)
2. Place the beaker ion the sink and add a mentos.

Test 2

1. Add 50 ml of cold diet coke to a beaker
2. Add 5 mentos.
3. Record the hieght it reach

Group 3
Test 1

1. Heat up 50ml in a beaker of coke ( Using a thermometer heat it to 30 degrees)
2. Place the beaker ion the sink and add a mentos.

Test 2

1. Add 50 ml of cold diet coke to a beaker
2. Add 5 mentos.
3. Record the height it reach

Group 4
Test 1

1. Heat up 50ml in a beaker of coke ( Using a thermometer heat it to 15 degrees)
2. Place the beaker ion the sink and add a mentos.

Test 2

1. Add 50 ml of cold diet coke to a beaker
2. Add 5 mentos.
3. Record the height it reach

Findings:

More investigations:

1. Does it work better with hot Coke( group) , warm Coke ( group) or cold Coke?( group)
2. Use Diet , Normal and Coke zero.
3. Does crushed Mentos work better than whole Mentos?( group) 

Conclusion:

Orana park wildlife trip

On Monday we wet to Oran wildlife park. The reason we went was because we are learning about hauora. Hauora is about body growth. So we went to Orana park because the animals were growing and the in structures told us how they were growing. The animals we seen were lions, Tigers, kiwis, Gecos, frogs, Birds and lots of other animals. My favourite part was when I got to see the gorillas because they are so big.

Haoura

For this this term we are learning about Hauora. Hauora is about body growth.  We all had to create a website with a friend. I chose to work with Caleb. We have assessment tasks to complete. Click on the link to see our website.

Bunsen Burner

In this practical you teacher will watch you lighting a Bunsen burner to assess whether you are safe to use one in the classroom.

• The location of the lab fire extinguisher and safety blanket are known
• Safety glasses were worn
• Long hair must be tied back and loose items of clothing tucked away
• The Bunsen burner was placed on a heat resistance surface
• The Bunsen burner is not to close to the edge of the desk
• The Bunsen burner was  connected to the gas tap propeller
• Check if  rube tubing has no cracks or leaks
• The Bunsen burner air hoe was closed before starting
• The splint was lit before the gas wad turned on
• The splint was positioned correctly while the gas was turned on
• The student can adjust the flame safety
