Basic introduction
Qr:
Q stands for a quote- a quote from the text
R stands for rhetorical Question- A question that is not meant to have an answer

TAKO:
T- Title 'The Merchant of Venice'
A-Auther, William Shakespeare
K- Key Argument, Use words from the question/ what are you arguing- A key moment that shocked was when Antonio agreed to pay a pound of his flesh to shylock if he didn't repay his bond the reader.
O- Outline- When you tell the reader the three things in your argument.
Red: He was willing to die for money for Bassanio
White: Shylock and Antonio hate each other
Blue: Shylock does not show mercy

"If you wrong us, we shell not revenge?". (Shakespeare-Shylock) Have you ever wanted to seek revenge?. In Williams Shakespeare  'The Merchant of Venice' a key moment that shocked the reader was when Antonio agreed to forfeit the bond a pound of flesh to shylock if he didn't repay his bond. This moment was shocking, outrages and fascinating. this moment was important to this text as a whole because shylock and Antonio didn't like each other but still agreed on the bond, Antonio was willing to risk his life for Bassanio, and Shylock did not show mercy in claiming his bond.

Basic Body paragraph x3
P: Point- The moment when Antonio agreed to the bond was shocking because of shylock and Antonio didn't get along.
E: Evidence- Antonio was a Merchant And Shylock Made a living by lending people money with interest. While Shylock charged interest, Antonio lent money without interest and scorned Sylock was doing so. He also spat and called him a "cut-throat dog".
E: Explain( how the evidence proves the point)- Therefore, the reader is shocked to discover Antonio and Shylock can come to an agreement about money lending. It is also shocking because when Shylock calls Antonio out for the way he treats him, Antonio tells Shylock that he will spit on him and calls him a dog again. This treatment is not usual between people who make agreements
L: Link( Link back to my key argument)- With this treatment like this from Antonio towards Shylock, And to promise to be just as cruel in the future it is Shocking that they both agreed to the bond.
Paragraph 2
P: The reader knew that Antonio and Bassanio were best friends but the reader was shocked when Antonio said he will risk his life to die for friendship and so that Bassanio can get a wife.
E: When They settled the bond he went to shylock to get the money because he didn't have the money at the moment they make a deal about the bond, Antonio was risking his vessels so he can pay off the bond and if he will lose a pound of flesh and with die. He thought it would be a good idea to give him the money so he can find the love of him life.
E: The reader knew that Antonio was being serious and he is a great friend because whenever Bassanio said "no don't do it that is a bad idea" Antonio said something along the lines like "I don't care I want you to be happy with Portia"

my sphero got robbed!! (in the hood cops called)

The past couple of weeks we have been learning about coding and sphero, We have been trying to make our own game and see how well it worked out. Before we started to the code we needed to download an app called sphero.edu in the app store on our phones. here is a link of the base of my code. https://edu.sphero.com/cwists/preview/2143x, also here is my plan and my code and evaluation.

Sphero Ideas

(This game has to have 2 players)

  1. Guess the animal sound,
We thought of an idea where the sphero will play an animal sound, you would then have to finish the lyrics. If you said the lyrics correctly then the sphero would then move 1 step towards your direction. When you get the sphero to take 5 steps into your direction you win.
Song Ideas:
Old Town Road, Just Lose It, Riptide

(Two or more players)

2. Family Feud,
We could use this idea as a questionnaire type game using questions about our world and how we use technology, basically the same idea as the first but with  questions

Our Game:
  Finish the song lyrics

First, we are going to have to put the blocks in the right place and then using the coding blocks put the function as a random loop to play them in random order. Then we would have to ensure that the sphero moves in the right direction. When and if the player gets it right, We also have to learn how to let the sphero know if the player got the answer wrong or right. We will also have to decide how many questions we will do, an idea is that they could range in difficulty.

Evaluation
When I was learning to code I thought it would be just a couple of clicks but now I know how to do it, it is a little bit harder then I thought. I think taking this class and opportunity was a great choice because now I have learned new things and maybe it will help me later on in life.

Shylock Character Study #1

Shylock Character Study #1-

  • Make a list of the insults and names Shylock has been called in the text so far. cut trough dog, usara and stood dido
  • Find quotes in the text that show Shylock’s hurt, his rage, his loneliness.
  • Do you think he cares more about losing the ducats or his daughter? Why? His money because with out his money he cant live and he went out on the streets with the kids chasing him. (Black Pg. 83, Blue Pg.56)
  • Shylock is powerless to get back his daughter or his ducats but Antonio is now in his power. Find the first mention of Shylock taking revenge on Antonio. Do you think his thoughts of revenge are justified?, give reasons. no because he doesn't say what he is going to do to Antonio he just says hes going to get revenge.
  • A3S1 lines Black P. 95, L.54-62, Blue P. 63, L. 47-65 What sentiment is Shylock trying to express here, do you find sympathy for him here? He is showing frustration and he is trying to explain what they don't have in common
  • Choose one ‘Hath not..’ quote and explain it. Hath not a Jews eyes. I think he means if he was a christian with christian eyes he would seethe devil

Can do task

Act Four: Create Tasks: (select and complete two, post to your blog)

  • Research In the Shakespeare court we have a judge. What positions are needed in a modern law court to hold a fair trial and how does each function. Which system do you think is fairer, that in the play, or that of modern day?
  • Artistic After the trial, a painting named ‘The Evil Shylock’ has been commissioned by Gratiano to reflect his very extreme and intolerant feelings about Shylock. The picture shows the moment where Shylock is sharpening the knife. Create this artwork.
  • Vocabulary Find the meanings of the following words: Rigorous, Remorse, Malice, Abject, Epitaph, Inexecrable, Ravenouse & Impugn.
  • Create Shylock gives many reasons throughout the play for his disdain for Antonio. Create a visual of these with Shylock at the center. Were his reasons valid?

I am doing vocabulary and the research task
Rigorous means that your very very careful on what you do.
Remorse means when feel very stupid about something you have done.
Malice means when you really want to hurt someone.
Abject means a prob or something you can hold.
Epitaph means a phrase or a quote in memory to remember someone.
Inexecrable means when you do something bad and you deserve the punishment.
Ravenous means when you are really hungry or haven't ate in a long time.
Impugn means when you tell the truth to someone.

  • Judge, Barrister and Court Administrative Office [many more Im just doing the main people]
  • Judge is the one who decides of who's side is more to the story and convincing. The Barrister is someone who gives help the victim or suspect. The police who handles like the money in court and other things like belongings.
  • I like modern day court because it is more fear because back n the old days they could make something up and the Judge will just go with it.

Act 4 Scene one line study

Act Four, Scene One- Line Study
  1. A4S1 Line 70-83 (Black Pg. 151, Blue Pg.87) Antonio gives us three short images of how useless any attempt by Bassanio to save his life will be? I think that Antonio just wants to just fie so he has given up on living and just wants to get it done.
  • What are they?(idk)
  • What do they tell us about one of Shakespeare's interests. I'm not really into Shakespeare this is the first time knowing what it is.
  • Do you think this is an effective way of demonstrating the problem. (I don't know what this means)
  • Each example is an extreme and impossible, what influence does this have on how you expect the rest of the scene to develop. I think Antonio is going to get more miserable.
  1. A4S1 L90-100 (Black Pg. 88-, Blue Pg.151-152) , Shylock uses vivid comparisons when he wants to make a point. when he compared money to his flesh.
  • What example does he use to illustrate the fact that the pound of flesh is his: ‘tis mine and I will have it’ I think he just want's to get the cutting so he doesn't have to worry about it anymore.
  • It is much longer comparison than the three used by Antonio  but do you think it is more striking/effective/convincing? I think he thinks hes lost everything and he doesn't want to live anymore. it was pretty effective because u think he was trying to make Shylock feel bad.
